The Gohar-e-Jahan building is one of several historically significant structures, with a history span of 400 years, located in the historical fabric of south of Naqsh-e Jahan Square. This house was originally part of a large aristocratic residence, along with the Dalan-e-Jahan Boutique Hotel. Over time, it was divided into several separate houses, many of which underwent alterations and demolition.
Today, the building is part of the expansion project for the Dalan-e-Jahan complex, including three distinct historical periods: Safavid, Qajar, and Pahlavi. As such, the restoration plan involves restoring the remaining original parts and reconstructing the damaged sections.
The project has been designed in three floors, adding 20 accommodation rooms and two central courtyards to the Dalan-e-Jahan complex while providing essential service spaces such as an industrial kitchen, housekeeping facilities, and more.
The central building is the most important part of this project, standing like a jewel with a full view of the domes of Naqsh-e Jahan Square, making it a standout among the surrounding historical buildings. This issue inspired the name “Gohar-e-Jahan,” meaning “The Gem of the World.”
Today, the entrance Dalan (corridor) of the building is used as a museum gallery, while other areas serve various functions, including cultural, educational, administrative, café, and handicraft store activities.
